Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy
Leo Tolstoy, or Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (1828-1910) was a Russian writer widely regarded as one of the greatest of all novelists. He is the author of War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Tolstoy's Christian beliefs were based on the Sermon on the Mount, and particularly on the phrase "turn the other cheek", which he saw as a justification for pacifism, nonviolence and nonresistance. Of the moral teaching of Christ, the words "Resist not evil" were taken to be the principle out of which all the rest follows.

*Walk in the light and other stories»
From "Walk in the Light," a parable-like piece that reflects Tolstoy's fascination with the early Christians, to beloved tales such as "Ivan the Fool," "A Prisoner in the Caucasus," and "What Men Live By," the stories in this volume have stood the test of time for over a century.
