The Jesus Army is a "Church of the poor".
Those at the "bottom of the pile" are welcomed and find their place. Those with the "advantages" of wealth, talent or education humble themselves. Money and possessions are shared. Talents and skills are given to serving others.
The usual system of things is turned on its head, upended.
It's always meant to be like this with Christians. Jesus said a lot of things about it, like:
"In God's kingdom, the ones who are now least important will be the most important, and those who are now most important will be least important" (Luke 13:29-30).
God's kingdom is bottom up - "head over heels in love," you could say.
The Jesus Army has taken this seriously. Some members of the Church even live together in Christian community houses so that they can share more fully.
And the Jesus Army has opened Jesus Centres in Coventry and Northampton, with a third due to open in Central London. Jesus Centres are places "where the love of Jesus is expressed daily in worship, friendship and help for every type of person". Take a look and find out how you can help. Jesus Centres >>
Jesus is a revolutionary. He turns the world upside down. Forget the rich and famous having it all - Jesus upsets all that and takes the rejected, the outcasts, the poor and saves them, gives them significance and purpose.
