WE THINK time belongs to us
when we are young - and we fill
our time with studying, partying.
As we get older, marry, have
2.3 kids, move on in a career, time
comes under a bit more pressure,
but hopefully we have the energy
to have lots of leisure pursuits
too.
But as you move 'over the hill',
you suddenly realise time is running
away from you fast. Once
you felt like you would live forever,
now your days seem packed and
you never quite get everything
done.
And finally, you sit in your chair
watching others, much younger
than you, moving through time
when yours has nearly run out.
And so often, we don't even
stop to think about time, about
eternity and about our own responses
to it all.
It's shocking when tsunamis
and hurricanes blow the world
apart - but then we carry on because
it wasn't our world that got
hit!
Jesus said, 'Don't store up for
yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and
steal. But store up for yourselves
treasures in heaven... For
where your treasure is, there
your heart will be also.' (The
Bible, Mt. 6:19-21)
Take a bit of time out to think, to
look for treasure that is everlasting,
for a friendship with the living
God that lasts forever!
