Ivy, from Zimbabwe, had had
a dream in which God told her
to go and buy a Bible. She had
become a Christian two months
previously and had stuck at it despite
opposition from her family
and friends. But this latest message
from God seemed ridiculous
- what was the point of buying a
Bible that she wouldn't be able
to read? But God was persistent
and she had the same dream
again and again. So Ivy gave in.
She went to a Christian crusade
meeting in a big tent near
her house to buy a Bible. To her
surprise, she had exactly the right
money.
At home that night, Ivy had
another dream. This time, she
dreamt of a story from the New
Testament of a sick woman who
touched the hem of Jesus' cloak
and was healed. In the dream, she
could see the words in front of her
face. When she woke, Ivy found
the place in her Bible and found
she could read it.
Doubting herself, Ivy took the
Bible to her Church leader who
confirmed that what she had read
was right. He and some other
members of her Church prayed for
her and told her to go home and
read more of the Bible.
Over the next few months, Ivy
kept dreaming parts of the Bible
then waking up and reading them
for herself in her own Bible.
Over the years, the situation in
Zimbabwe worsened and Ivy's husband
and two children died due to
lack of food and clean water. Ivy
and a friend came to England to
seek asylum. She arrived in Leicester
without money or food and feeling
very ill.
Discovering that Ivy was a
Christian, her social worker recommended
the Jesus Army. When
Ivy went along, people prayed for
her. Two weeks later money from
the Job Centre came through.
But Ivy still felt ill, so her Jesus
Army friends prayed again and
God healed her head, heart and
legs. At her next visit to the doctor,
he asked what she was doing
there as she was not ill!
Ivy thanks God for all the miracles
he has done in her life and for
the love of her Church family. The
Jesus Army in Leicester often hear
her ecstatic "Hallelujahs!" as she
dances around the room!
