BETHAN is keen to tell
others about Jesus. "If you
don't know God then you're
missing out on life, you're
missing out on friendship,
you're missing out on everything",
she says.
Bethan was brought up in a
Christian family, but didn't really
connect with God fully in
her younger childhood. It was
only when her Dad became terminally
ill that Bethan started
to think seriously about life and
death issues.
Bethan had always been inspired
by her Dad's example:
he had been an enthusiastic
Jesus Army evangelist himself
and used to take Bethan with
him singing Christian songs and
dancing on the streets.
Shortly before her Dad died he
urged Bethan to become a Christian
fully. At the time, Bethan
had said that she would to please
him, but after he died she found
that she had an overwhelming
sense that he was in heaven
- and, not surprisingly, that she
wanted to go to heaven too.
"The decision was: you're either
going to heaven or hell, it's
one or the other - you've got to
make your mind up. I decided
I wanted to go to heaven and I
made my choice then." Eternal
issues had come into sharp focus
for Bethan and it was at this
time that she became a Christian
in her own right.
Since that time, Bethan has
gone from strength to strength,
discovering a real confidence in
her faith, discovering more of
God, enjoying her friendships in
the Jesus Army and telling others
about Jesus.
"I love just talking to people",
she says, "Especially people who
are lonely or not cared for - it's
nice to have a friendly person
come and talk to you if you're
feeling down" And her message
to others of her own age - "Just
try it: 'cause if you never try God,
you're never gonna know…"
