BOY'S MIRACLE AND FAMILY ALL BELIEVE
At four years old Bradley was touched by God and whole family found faith in Jesus
In 1986, Andrew and Sharon Travers' twin sons, Bradley and Lance, were born three months prematurely. Lance lived for just one day and Bradley, who weighed only 1lb 6oz, had multiple problems including a brain haemorrhage, collapsed lung and meningitis.
Their tiny baby was so vulnerable that Andrew and Sharon were not allowed to hold him for nine weeks. At two months, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus and had a shunt fitted into his skull. His left wrist was clenched so that his arm was locked to his chest.
One day, when Bradley was about four years old, the young couple - neither of whom were certain what they believed - were invited to a local church.
Bradley, now in his teens, tells what happened:
"When I was little, my left hand was all closed up and Mum and Dad took me to church. They never thought anything was going to happen but all the church prayed for me and it automatically opened!"
The miracle affected Bradley's parents so much that the whole family became Christians.
"At first," says Sharon, "we used to puzzle why, if God could open Bradley's hand, He didn't heal all of his body. Bradley still has many medical problems and needs regular and often painful treatment.
"Ten years on we feel we know God's loving, wise character well enough to trust that He knows what He's doing!"
Bradley himself has a simple, joyful faith in God and loves all the many activities of the church.
"My sister, Charmaine, taught me how to walk," he says, "but now God has taught me how to walk in Him."
