Gospel Roadshow reaches Barnsley
Jesus army coaches are touring towns and cities in the UK, bringing the love of Jesus to the streets.
During the Barnsley Gospel Roadshow prayer and fasting were keys to releasing a powerful spiritual dynamic.
A couple of the team members had been on long term fasts and the whole team, with other church members, joined in a two-day fast prior to the start of the street outreach. Every morning the team came before God and asked that He would direct their prayers and activities effectively.
On the first day, as a result of intercession, a man who had been on the fringes of the church scene in Barnsley for about a year, came on board and wanted to give his life to Jesus.
On the Friday night, two students from Ireland looked in on their way home from work. They were sick of the hypocrisy and double standards of their lives and the values of the world. They were keen to talk and excited by our lifestyle. One of them responded to a call to be a disciple of Jesus and gave his life to Jesus.
Later that same evening, a young man on heroin, who'd been around during the day, came back. The team prayed for him and he asked Jesus into his life and has been getting involved with the local Jesus Fellowship church.
At the end of the Saturday night event a young man who had been a heroin addict for eight years came forward for prayer and returned to the local community house in Sheffield. He was facing a court hearing and a prison sentence.
The Roadshow visit is all part of an ongoing church planting in Barnsley. A local team meets every Wednesday and Sunday evening. Prayer and fasting are continuing and there is a growing expectancy that a door of opportunity for the gospel is opening in the town.
