YOU WON'T CATCH ME IN A CHURCH
April was finished with religion - until she saw her mum begin to change
April can remember being bullied at school because her family belonged to the Jehovah's Witnesses.
"As a child, it all felt like a world of 'do's and don'ts' with heavy restrictions. I was glad when mum finally left them. I just felt I wanted to forget God and religion. To me, church was horrible and boring."
When April and her mum first came to the Jesus Fellowship, April didn't want to be involved at all! Her thought was, 'What if it happens all over again?'
April's Mum began to change. She grew stronger in herself and wasn't just carried along by things anymore.
"My mum became someone with her own mind who really stuck up for what was right! This impressed me a lot."
"Over the months I became more and more aware of God. One day, at a church event, I listened again to the detailed story of Jesus dying on the cross. At first I thought, 'I've heard all this before,' but God really spoke to me and that evening I gave my life to Jesus.
"That night I couldn't sleep, I was so excited! I felt like a little kid who had loads of presents and wanted to play all night! My friends were over the moon."
April was later baptised in a stream in a local park.
"God has given me loads of friends, He's helped me to know they care. I want to live my life building the church, reaching others and loving and serving Jesus!"
