I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Christ, includes Protestants, Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox believers.

 The Apostles' Creed, which probably dates from the first or second century, was written to summarise the basic teaching of the Apostles.
It emphasises the true humanity and physical body of Jesus, since that is a major point that heretics of the time denied (see 1 John 4:1-3).
Almost certainly it grew out of a simple confession of faith at baptism.
