This week, we have four items of good news, all connected with the Friday
Fax. The Friday Fax - "God's news agency" as someone once called it -has
been published as a weekly newsletter since 1994. It all started with the
well-documented and, for many people, very exciting events surrounding the
Chief of Police in Sofia, Bulgaria, who rose from the dead in 1993. Our aim
has been to report about what God is doing around the world, revealing
God's greatness to Christians and non-Christians alike, to tell of miracles
and thus remind also those in the West of God's supernatural power, and to
encourage Christians to think strategically. The thousands of messages of
thanks and comments which we have received show that far more is happening
than we could even have dared to dream ten years ago. Eleven years, 1,650
news items, stories and special reports later, we can say that we have
achieved the aims we set in 1994. And anyone who reaches the finishing line
doesn't need to carry on running. Friday Fax 2005/50, to be published in
December, will be the last Friday Fax. We, the Friday Fax editorial team,
will be taking on new challenges; the Friday Fax will be replaced by three
exciting newsletters, each of which will be a unique source of information:
Friday Fax 2
After 1 comes 2. Friday Fax 2 is the evolution of the traditional Friday
Fax, its conceptional successor. Observing global Christianity, we can see
a massive change in process; the old is stagnating, fading away or
isolating itself, new things are coming forth, looking for direction,
identity and the future. Youth churches, Emerging Church, house churches
and apostolic networks, as well as new concepts for school, business and
politics are emerging. We are convinced that we are in the birth pangs of a
global reformation at the end of the age, restoring God's order and
preparing the Body of Christ for a last harvest. Besides reports and
special features, the Friday Fax 2 will include mainly strategic and
prophetic information for Christians interested in the spread of the
Kingdom of God. If you are interested in where the journey is headed and
want to make significant decisions for the future, you need a radar to show
you what lies ahead. The Friday Fax 2 aims to be just such a radar.
Publisher Wolfgang Simson cooperates closely with many strategic and
prophetic people around the globe, so the Friday Fax 2 will be filled with
inside information hardly available anywhere else. Availability and price:
30 Euro per year for 22 issues via e-mail. Ordering and further information
from info@ffax2.com or www.ffax2.com. The first issues will be published
soon, so order now!
Joel News
The excellent Joel News is one of the world's best-known Christian news
services, including reports about transformational processes, revivals,
church growth, prayer initiatives and prophetic developments. It is
published by Dutch journalist Marc van der Woude. Joel News is probably the
closest equivalent to the original Friday Fax, hence we're recommending it
to all current subscribers. Its target audience is Christian leaders,
intercessors, church planters and pretty much anyone who wants to see the
Kingdom of God expanding in all areas of life. The name 'Joel' is taken
from the Old Testament prophet who prophesied that God would pour out his
spirit on all flesh in the last days, along with miracles and restoration,
but also called to repentance. Availability and price: 30 Euro per year for
45 issues. See www.joelnews.org
for more information.
Mammon Fax
Just as 90% of an iceberg is under the water, 90% of our problems have to
do with money or that which is generally supposed to be its source: work.
There is a dimension of work and money, though, which is not covered by
tips and tricks about investing, saving taxes and counting pennies. Jesus
opens our eyes to this dimension when he challenges us to choose between
God and Mammon. Mammon is a demon who drives people in never-ending circles
of ever higher demands, entangling them in worries and arguments about
money. Honestly: many people's understanding of life can be summarized
"earn and buy, pay taxes and die"! Astonishingly, even in the Christian
world, we often see more of Mammon's influence than God's when decisions
are to be made. "Money makes the world go around" - but who makes the money
go around? Do you realise how much your answer to that question influences
your personal future? What is your answer? The Mammon Fax aims to provide
literally invaluable help to people making decisions in the most important
areas of their lives - information that they would not hear in church, and
particularly not from their bank. We want to disrobe Mammon and rob him of
his influence in your life, particularly in the area of work, and encourage
you to scale previously unthinkable financial walls with God. The first
three issues (I buy, therefore I am; The God of financial miracles; Welcome
to the Age of Inspiration) are free. The Mammon Fax is published by
Dr. Thomas Giudici, previously Chief Treasurer of Basle, Switzerland, and
Wolfgang Simson, who recently published the book "Preis des Geldes" (The
Price of Money) together. Availability and price: 35 Euro for 12 issues per
year, the first three issues are free. Currently only available in German,
but an English version is planned in the near future. More information via
info@mammon-fax.net or www.mammon-fax.net.
A short note about quality: many newsletters are free, others cost 15 Euro
or more per issue! Most free newsletters are propaganda for the publishing
company or organisation, or are subsidised by advertising. (None of which
is true for the English Friday Fax. Our years of experience in
publishing newsletters has shown us that a persistent high quality and
independent content can only be achieved through constant research,
contacts, evaluation of information and high journalistic standards. We are
convinced that the subscription prices of these alternatives offer you
exceptional value in comparison to secular newsletters.
A personal note from the translator
The Friday Fax is originally published in German. I began translating it
soon after it was first published; the first issue I still have is 1995/10.
It has been an interesting time, and I have received many encouraging
e-mails - but probably just as many critical or sceptical. On the one
hand, I am sad that the Friday Fax will cease in its current form; on the
other hand relieved, because I will have several more hours free time each
week!

And one from the webmaster
We began hosting the Fridayfax on the web in the early days of the internet and still have available online the first pages we published (Friday Fax 1995/15). I too am sad that the Friday Fax is stopping, though there are vastly more alternative resources available on the web than there were in those exciting days! Ten years isn't bad going, though.
