Is God turning the graveyard into a vineyard?

Many Christian conferences in India are not simply conferences; they are multi-day festivals, so-called 'conventions'. The Swiss missions agency 'Inter-Mission' reported of such a convention held recently in Sikkeria, Bihar state, by the GEMS mission agency, with an attendance of some 10,000. Despite the large numbers, everything was orderly and peaceful. Even the insects showed their respect: swarms of poisonous insects are often attracted by large crowds, but the convention had no such problems - the insects concentrated on a town 4 miles away. "Hundreds of women from illiterate tribes wept with joy when they heard the Gospel, and many were freed from demonic possession," according to the report. Many were healed of various sicknesses, and thousands proclaimed their readiness to serve God. Five evangelist couples were married during the conference. 456 of the attendees decided to follow Jesus, and were baptised in the nearby river, with thousands of witnesses. Bihar State was long known as "the missionaries' graveyard" - many initiatives were started, and many died. "Today," writes the mission agency, "God changed the graveyard into a blossoming vineyard."

Mother healed of hip problem

Following a visit to a church in Folkestone, England, evangelist David Hathaway reports that a woman was healed of a hip problem from which she had suffered since birth. The healing took place a few years ago, and the woman has remained healthy. The woman, Barbara, had already undergone eight unsuccessful operations, and could not remember being pain-free in her entire life. "The pain was so bad that I could not even play with my children," she remembers. "My youngest daughter, then only a few months old, would only sleep in my arms. On the night of the event, she did not want to sleep at all. I cried out to God, desperate not to miss the event, because I felt him saying that I would be healed that day. I received prayer during the event, and was completely healed. I was suddenly pain-free! I was so shocked that I laughed and cried, trying every possible movement. My husband shouted for joy when he saw that I could move freely! My healing has remained complete."

Salvation and healing

2,300 people attended the 'Come to the Light' service in the Schützenhalle, Lüdenscheid, on 2 March 2002. "During the service, 50 people gave their lives to Jesus, including one young man who had been desperately seeking God for years. He wrote to us, saying that he has 'finally come home'," says Walter Heidenreich, leader of the Freien Christlichen Jugendgemeinschaft (Free Christian Youth Fellowship). A young woman had been suffering from a bone disease for two years, and had to take 18 tablets each day to control the pain. She travelled 220 miles for the chance of receiving prayer, even though she was not a Christian. After prayer, her legs felt very light. She now no longer needs the tablets and sleeps soundly for the first time in years.
