Prayer heals tumour

A few years ago, Renee Schomerus noticed a small swelling under her right ear, which slowly grew. She hesitated with an operation, and repeatedly asked other Christians to pray for her. One evening, the tumour burst, and part fell out. That happened three times, and the tumour has now completely vanished.

Murderous witch doctor now plants churches

"The house church movement in North India is one of the world's fastest-growing Christian movements," says evangelist and missions expert Florian Baertsch. "Speaking with Indian missionaries, we regularly hear of church plants accompanied with such strong signs and wonders that they remind me clearly of Acts," he writes. "We recently met a young man who used to be an active witch doctor. He had organised a group of men to murder a church planter. They sacrificed to evil spirits and were on their way to carry out their plan when Jesus himself suddenly appeared in great authority before the witch doctor, saying 'Enough!' The witch doctor repented, and a Saul again became a Paul, who now plants churches with the young man he planned to kill."

Small church, big effect

For over 70 years, the Assemblies of God church in Kirkland, near Washington, was a small church with around 70 members. "But in the last 12 months, thousands of people came to the altar, putting their lives in order with God," reports evangelist Jerry Gaffney. "Over 7,000 people have repented and reconciled with God. Hundreds have been healed of all sorts of illnesses. Among others, a dumb boy was able to speak for the first time in eleven years, many with Multiple Sclerosis and cancer were healed, deaf could hear, the blind saw and spectacle-wearers no longer needed their glasses. The church, though, which now has a regular attendance of 700, doesn't just think of itself; they donated $170,000 to missionaries around the world last year, have been instrumental in planting 60 new churches, and sent over 10 large containers of food and medical supplies to Russia and Africa. A number of television crews have given their lives to Jesus while filming in the church, later broadcasting reports of 'the expense of a sinful lifestyle'. Many drug addicts and alcoholics have been freed of their addiction, and families restored for whom there was, humanly speaking, no hope," he says.

Presbyterians increasingly tired of liberal theology

According to an Agape Press report about the statistical trends in the Presbyterian Church (USA), the denomination is rapidly losing members. A record number of 35,000 people left the church last year, the highest number since 1994. Conservative pastors in the denomination attribute this to the denomination's acceptance of homosexual and lesbian partnerships, and its liberal attitude to the Bible and godliness of Jesus, among other things. A 'Confessing Church Movement' has formed within the PCUSA, which is attracting a growing number of churches. The movement's creed includes the absolute authority of Biblical texts, and rejects liberal theology and its results.

Junkie healed of AIDS

Michael is 37 years old, and father of two. He recently met English evangelist David Hathaway at a conference, and told him his story: "I should really be dead, but I'm alive. I had been addicted to heroin and pills since my youth. I grew up in a family of twelve, with an alcoholic and drug-addicted mother. My life was full of hashish, break-ins, arrests, heroin and therapy. Finally, I contracted HIV from an infected syringe. At one of your conferences in Karlsruhe in 1991, you called sick people to come forward. I saw a woman pushing her wheelchair away, because she could now walk. That gave me faith for my own healing. And I was healed! The next time I went to the doctor, he confirmed the miracle. I infected myself with HIV twenty years ago, and was healed ten years ago. I've never had a relapse, and my wife and children are also HIV negative?"
