AIDS sufferer healed and free from drugs without withdrawal symptoms

"Anything which works should not be hindered - and this works!" said the mayor at the opening of a healing and rehabilitation center in Svetlagorsk in Belarus. The invited guests included Germany's ambassador, Dr. Winkelmann, who was also impressed by the rehabilitation work in which 15 drug addicts have been freed from their addiction without withdrawal symptoms. Matthias Kletch from the Tübinger Offensive Stadtmission in Tübingen, Germany, reports that many of the people attending the center arrived with their life in tatters, without hope, but have been transformed and given their lives to Jesus Christ. Two AIDS sufferers have been completely healed; their doctors are completely unable to explain the blood tests, which reveal that the HIV virus has completely disappeared from their body. One of them was saved over two years ago, and is now already one of the staff in the new rehabilitation center. "God not only frees the young people from their drug addiction without withdrawal symptoms, he heals them completely," says the center's leader, Egbert Schoone. 45-year-old Schoone moved to Svetlagorsk two years ago to set up the center with his wife and seven others.

Police ask Christians for prayer - crime rate sinks

"In one area of Nottingham, England, the police have asked Christians for prayer," reports John Robinson, an evangelical Christian and member of staff at Nottingham City Council. Since the organizers of the Prayerwatch Outreach started praying for the Arnold housing complex two years ago, the crime rate has sunk by ten percent. The prayer ministry has become so well known that a similar project is being organized for a second area. "Even non-Christian policemen ask for prayer support," reports Robinson.

15 years of DAWN

1 million churches were planted in the last 10 years

"From its small beginnings in 1985, the DAWN (Discipling A Whole Nation) Movement, which grew out of a vision to encourage long-term national missionary church multiplication initiatives, has become a global movement," said DAWN founder Dr. Jim Montgomery to mark the organisation's 15th anniversary. "DAWN-oriented initiatives exist or are forming in 150 countries; churches in 60 of those countries have committed to cooperating to reach national goals in which a total of over 3 million new churches should be planted. In these 60 nations, some 1 million churches have already been planted in the last 10 years." One of those countries is Zimbabwe, where church leaders joined in the Target 2000 Movement with the aim of doubling the number of churches from 10,000 in 1990 to 20,000 in 2000; a September conference will celebrate the attainment of this goal. Over 20% of the population are now Christians and church members. The DAWN movement consists of a loose network of some 300 people spread around the globe. "The current exponential growth of Christianity in a number of countries," says Montgomery, "means that it is entirely possible that we will experience a literally unbelievable development in world mission in the next 10 years, if not the actual fulfilment of the Great Commission."

On 18th June 2000, the Biblische Glaubensgemeinde in Stuttgart, Germany, held an open air service for 3,000 people in Feuerbach near Stuttgart. The builders working on the fellowship's new center were all invited, and 40 Rumanian builders came. After the evangelistic sermon, all 40 declared their desire to follow Jesus.
