Musalaha - reconciliation between Palestinians and Jews

Under the name "Musalaha" (Arabic for 'reconciliation'), Christian Palestinians and Messianic Jews are meeting with the aim of reconciliation between them and the breaking down of barriers. Evan, the young pastor of a Messianic Jewish fellowship in Israel reports:
"Our cultural, political and theological backgrounds are so different that it is almost impossible to understand each other unless we have open, friendly relationships. In the last few years, experience has taught us to dare the extraordinary in order to progress. We decided to meet in a dry desert area. As soon as you are there, you forget your normal surroundings. Within a few hours, you don't even think about where you actually come from.

"You have to survive, give each other water, lead each other's camel. In that way, we appreciate each others' company and start to take an interest in each others' lives. The desert is a very effective teacher. When we sit around a dried up well in the burning heat, passing bottles of fresh water around, we come quickly to important things, the heart of the matter, and can hear our heavenly Father's voice better."

Komrings in Indonesia: "The blind see, the lame walk..."

The Komrings are one of Indonesia's unreached peoples. They number about 1.5 million, are Muslims and live in Sumatra. An evangelistic team recently visited a Komring village; as the team met the village chief sitting in the open, they asked him if they could help him at all. He replied, "You see that one of my legs has been lame for years. Can you help?"

"Naturally," said one of the team, "can we pray for you in Jesus' name?" The Islamic chief agreed, so they prayed: "Lord, you see the chief's situation, and you know him. In Jesus' name we ask you to heal him now. Amen." Suddenly the chief stood up, shouting, "I'm healed! I'm healed!"

He went throughout the village and called everyone together: "Everyone come and see what happened to me, and bring the sick with you. Look, my leg was lame for years until these young people arrived in our village and prayed for me. Look, I'm healed!"

A crowd quickly gathered and many wanted the team to pray for them. They brought a blind man forward, who could see again immediately after receiving prayer. A deaf person could hear again, a lame man could walk. Finally a team member asked the chief, "Do you want to follow Jesus?" He looked at the young people and asked thoughtfully: "If Jesus has healed me today, who can stop me from following him?"

The Swiss mission leader Heinz Strupler reports that the Jesus film is being translated into the Komrings language. Information and a video about the Komrings in English (NTSC) or French (PAL) is available from: Create International, P.O. box 6075, East Perth, W.A. 6892, Australia.

Switzerland: Strong men in the corner

An intercessor reports:
"I have been praying for my home village for years, where young Christians have a tea room. One evening, some young punks turned up on mopeds and obviously wanted to wreck the tea room. However, they soon left without bothering anyone and started a fight amongst themselves outside. When the police arrived and asked them what they were doing there, they admitted that they had wanted to demolish the tea room. As the policeman then asked why they had not done it, they answered 'It was impossible. There was a strong man in every corner. We wouldn't have had a chance.' The policeman then went into the tea room and said 'You were lucky to have those four strong guests as the punks were here.' What he didn't know: only the punks saw the 'strong men'".
